The humanitarian action Wave of goodness for “PalčićI” started on the eve of the International Day of Awareness of Premature Birth on November 17, 2019. The aim of the action is to raise funds for the purchase of two incubators and one neonatal respirator, the most technologically advanced equipment worth HRK 563,000.00, needed by the Neonatology Department of the Split KBC.
This quipment save the lives of babies born with only 500g of weight, which is especially important given that the rate of premature babies is constantly rising.
About 4,400 babies are born in the Split hospital every year, and the rate of premature births has already reached over 6%. A premature baby has specific problems, especially newborns under 1500 g of weight and newborns on a respirator, and their hospital stay is long, so this equipment is crucial to make the results of treatment even more successful.
This is also the biggest humanitarian action that our club has initiated so far.
